The segment from Valenzuela to Quezon City could be inaugurated before his term ends.
During his inspection at the ongoing construction for the Camp Aguinaldo station of the Metro Manila Subway (MMS) project, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said that he is actively pushing for the completion of a segment before his administration ends in June 2028.
“Sana matapos natin ito hanggang Valenzuela by 2028. Baka pwede na nating i-inaugurate,” said the President.
He noted that fast-tracking the project’s construction would also come as a relief to commuters, adding, “Lahat naman ay nag-aagree na kailangan bilisan ito para naman mas maginhawa ang kanilang pagkomyut.”
He also expressed his thanks to the Japanese government for helping make the subway project, which is the first of its kind in the country, possible.
The 33-kilometer Manila Subway Project is expected to serve over 500,000 passengers daily and reduce travel time from Valenzuela and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City from the current 2 hours and 30 minutes to just 41 minutes.
Moreover, the subway will also be interconnected with MRT 3, MRT 7, and the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR).
